Kerry Ray Nicholson, 58, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away on June 11, 2017, while traveling in Alaska with his family.

Kerry Ray Nicholson was born November 14, 1958, in Cherokee, Iowa to Raymond and Margaret Nicholson. He graduated from United Community High School in rural Boone, Iowa in 1977, and went on to get his Associate's Degree from Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Kerry was united in marriage to Cheryl Osborne on July 22, 1989. The couple made their home in Ankeny and have been blessed with one son, Steven....

Kerry Ray Nicholson was born November 14, 1958, in Cherokee, Iowa to Raymond and Margaret Nicholson. He graduated from United Community High School in rural Boone, Iowa in 1977, and went on to get his Associate's Degree from Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Kerry was united in marriage to Cheryl Osborne on July 22, 1989. The couple made their home in Ankeny and have been blessed with one son, Steven. Kerry made a career with the United States Postal Service in Des Moines. Recently celebrating 30 years of service this past May. He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed riding his bike on the various trails around central Iowa. Most of all, Kerry treasured time spent with Cheryl, Steven, and their dog, Harley.

Kerry is survived by his wife, Cheryl and son Steven of Ankeny; sisters, Karen (Brian) Boesenberg, of Ankeny, and Ann (Bill) Elenitsky of Naperville, Illinois; and nieces and nephews, Kelly (Ryan) Smith, Adam (Heidi) Boesenberg, Lindsey (Ken) Kozbiel, and Lucas Elenitsky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Margaret Nicholson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation for the Bike Trail Program.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 16, 2017, at the Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 W. First Street, Ankeny, Iowa. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday June 17, 2017 at the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
